"Ridin for Comfort"


The Webster Comfort Care Home is a non-for profitorganization that provides a homelike setting for individuals who are terminal and have a less than a short time left to be in a homelike setting and comfort. WCCH operates on 100% donations and volunteers. They are in need of many things at this point and our economy as it stands, theintake of important items such as food, bedding, toiletries,utility expenses, etc. I am one of the ortganizers hosting this first time ever "Motorcycle Charity Rdie"! Members of WCCH are very excited about this first time event! Cost per motorcycle is $30.00 with or without a passanger. There will be plenty of food, beer, soda & door prizes. There will be a 50/50 drawing and a comemorataive bandana to the first 100 motorcycles to sign in. We are hoping that this event will be a great success. 100% of all the proceeds will go to the WCCH. Riding For Refuge


8/8/10.  Providence Housing Development Corporation will be holding its first annual motorcycle poker run on August 8, 2010 to benefit homeless housing. Registration: 10:30 am to 12 noon, $20 per bike or car, $5 for additional passenger and $10 for afterparty only. Food (free), drinks, live music, raffle and prizes. Register for the Federation of Social Workers Golf Tournament


June 29 2010 - August 9 2010.  The Federation of Social Workers has a history of charitable activity in the Rochester community that began more than thirty years ago. In keeping with that tradition, the proceeds of this year's golf event will support three very worthy causes. The Ed Grabowski-Dina Finn Memorial Scholarship Fund provides much needed educational aid to worthy students. Christopher's Challenge Fund continues to do lifesaving work in the area of bone marrow transplants. Their event donation this year will be made in loving memory of John Kecskes and Nadine Spinell-Hughto, both of whom were loyal and dedicated supporters of the mission of Christopher's Challenge. Alyssa's Angels honors the memory of Alyssa Rose Bruno. The Federation of Social Workers has been involved with projects to help the Bruno family since Alyssa first became ill in 2005. Although Alyssa lost her courageous battle with cancer in August 2006, her spirit of caring and giving carries on through the work that Alyssa's Angels does to help needy children in the Rochester area. Next Generation Leaders Program


Next Generation Leaders Program - A partnership between the Greater Rochester Red Cross and Big Brothers Big Sisters What: Recruit 30 adult mentors to be matched with youth in grades 9-12 in its Next Generation Leaders Program for the Fall program. Where: The Greater Rochester Red Cross, 50 Prince Street, Rochester, N.Y. 14607 When: Choose either Tuesday, July 27 or Thursday, August 12- from 5:30 P.M.-7:00 P.M. FREE Contact: To register call 585-241-4261; www.rochesterredcross.org Program Details: Two mentor recruitment orientation sessions are scheduled for Tuesday, July 27 and Thursday, August 12 from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Greater Rochester Red Cross, 50 Prince St. Orientation sessions are open to the public and refreshments will be served. The partnership seeks mentors who will be matched with youth in one to one relationships. The matches will engage in a both group activities (in the fall) and activities on their own. The mentor will guide their mentee as they engage in a seven week leadership development program through the Red Cross. The Next Generation Leaders Program students will learn African American and Latino history and culture leadership development, community service through volunteer projects, career exploration and planning through college field trips, self esteem building, in addition to public speaking, safety training, special presentations, project planning, and much more.

Rochester Fur Ball


Rochester's first Pet-Friendly, black-tie gala and fundraiser event will be held on Saturday, August 28 from 6 pm to Midnight at the Strathallan Hotel. The Rochester Fur Ball is a fund raising event for Verona Street Animal Society, Animal Service League, and Monroe County Guiding Eyes for the Blind. Lucky dogs in attendance will be treated to a doggie buffet, animal communicator and dog spa, complete with an animal masseuse. Human companions will enjoy silent and live auctions, raffle, dancing, doggie fashion show, dinner buffet & open bar. Free Adoption Seminar


Tuesday, August 3, 2010.  The Adoption Place at Jewish Family Service will hold a free informational meeting on domestic, private and international adoption, as well as adopting waiting children. DATE: Tuesday, August 3, 2010 TIME: 6:00 - 8:00 PM LOCATION: Jewish Family Service, 441 East Avenue, Rochester, NY 14607 Adoption professionals from Jewish Family Service will be on hand to answer questions about all aspects of the adoption process. Participants will also hear from an adoptive family and have the chance to talk to them about their adoption experience. Coop Cup for Cancer


8/7/10.  Come on out for a great day of golf and support cancer research at the Wilmot Cancer Center. This tournament, organized annually by friends and family of the late Clinton Cooper, will be held at LeRoy Country Club. The cost is $75 per golfer and that includes cart, lunch and a chicken barbecue dinner. The $20 per person dinner is open to all.

Savor Rochester: a Festival of Food


Monday, September 20, 2010.  Support Foodlink at Savor Rochester: a Festival of Food on Monday, September 20, 2010, from 5 to 8pm at the Rochester Public Market. Join us for a celebration of local flavor. The Festival of Food features over 100 local restaurants, wineries, breweries, bakeries and farms sampling the best food and drink in the region. All proceeds benefit Foodlink, the local food bank serving the Genesee Valley and Finger Lakes region for over 30 years. Fairport Music and Food Festival


The 6th annual Fairport Music and Food Festival is being held Saturday, August 28th, in the village of Fairport, on Liftbridge Lane, along the historic Erie Canal, from noon until dark. This is a day-long, family oriented celebration of music and food, with all proceeds benefiting the Golisano Children's Hospital at Strong. A number of local and regional bands will perform, and there are crafts,entertainment, and fun activities for the kids. Festival vendors will be offering signature dishes and refreshments. Humor is the Best Medicine - An Evening with the RevMo

Saturday, October 9th, 2010.  For our Troops and Hometown Heroes "Out of the Rubble Gala" October 9th, 2010 Barton Hall, Cornell University, Ithaca, New York Since 9/11, the citizens of the United States have not come together as a group to say "Thank You" to our Servicemen and Women, Police, Fire Fighters and Paramedics. These incredible individuals lay their lives on the line for us every day, on both foreign and domestic soil.

Collectorfest Monthly


11/7/10.  Get your Rochester Red Wings memorabilia signed by Rochester baseball greats Joe Altobelli and Johnny Antonelli at this annual sports show from 10am-3pm at the Webster Columbus Center. The local legends will sign autographs from 1-2pm for $5 each and the funds will be donated to the Wilmot Cancer Center.
